New Sports Hub in Clark for SEA Games 2019

Southeast Asian Games 2019 organizing committee chief and Foreign Affairs secretary Allan Peter Cayetano said Tuesday that the soon-to-be developed 9,500-hectare Clark City has what it takes to become a world-caliber training center.

A track oval cum stadium that can accommodate 20,000 and an aquatics center that can fit 2,000 can be done in time for the opening of the 30th edition of the biennial sportsfest.

FINA Releases 2018 SC World Championships Qualifying Standards

FINA has announced the qualifying standards for the 2018 World Short Course Championships. The meet, which will be held at the end of the year in Hangzhou, China, is held every two years– the last edition was in 2016 in Windsor, Canada.

The A standards were determined based on the 16th place time at the 2016 World SC Champs. B standards were derived from A standards, but adding 3.5%

James Deiparine wins silver in Kuala Lumpur SEA Games

James Christian Deiparine won the silver medal of the Men’s 100m Breaststroke event at the 29th Southeast Asian Games, Friday night, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Twenty four year-old Deiparine clocked 1:02.11 to finish second behind Indonesia’s Nathaniel Gagarin who took the gold in a new SEA Games record fashion with a time of 1:01.76

Jasmine Alkhaldi rakes in three SEA Games bronze; Womens Quarter butchers National Record

Two time Olympian Jasmine Alkhaldi raked in three more bronze medals, all in a national record breaking fashion, at the 29th Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Wednesday evening.

Twenty four year-old Alkhaldi opened her individual swim campaign yesterday in the hotly contested Women’s 100m Freestyle event, where she figured in a very close fight for the gold among the best Southeast Asian swimmers in the region.

Twenty-four year-old James Christian Deiparine resets the Philippine national swimming record on day three of the 17th FINA World Swimming Championships in Budapest, Hungary, Tuesday afternoon.

In a pool of 81 elite swimmers from around the world, Deiparine propelled his way to a 36th place finish in the Men’s 50m Breaststroke event, clocking a new national record time of 28.13 seconds.

Ilustre ends Philippines’ 9th ASEAN Schools Games campaign with another gold

Maurice Sacho Ilustre topped the Boys 200m Butterfly event as Team Philippines ended their campaign with one gold, one silver and one bronze on the last day of the 9th ASEAN Schools Games in Singapore, Wednesday afternoon.

Ilustre, the top youth swimmer in the country, clocked 2:03.67 minutes to rule the Boys’ 200m Butterlfy, edging local ace Rhys Jun Kai Ng (2:05.58) and Indonesia’s Zelmi Aryalingga Azel (2:06.01).
