Describe yourself :

I’m a quiet person but very disciplined and determined.

What side or character of yours that would most likely surprise others?

I am very good at building Lego. I can finish building the Star Wars ships in one day.

What age did you start swimming? What brought you to the sport of swimming?

I started swimming at the age of 4. My parents wanted me to swim to strengthen my immune system since I cough a lot when I was young.

During your early years of swimming, have you ever thought that you will reach where you are now today as a swimmer? Why?

No, because I considered swimming just an exercise and having fun in the water.

What do you think are the factors that make you a successful swimmer?

Hard work, determination, discipline, and commitment.

What is your most memorable experience as a swimmer?

When I was able to qualify for the finals in the Long Course Nationals competing against swimmers older than me and winning my first IMX award.

Apart from being a Summer Olympian, what is (are) your other goal(s) as a swimmer?

My goals are to beat my personal best times and hopefully compete and win in International competitions.

Was there ever a time that you thought of quitting swimming? Why?

No, because I enjoy this sport a lot even if it means waking up early for training and staying up late to study and do home works.

Who do you look up to as a swimmer? Why?

I look up to my present coach, Coach Pinky, for believing in me and motivating me to do my very best at all times. To my past coaches, Coach Roland, Coach Jenny, and Coach Mhel for seeing the talent in me and molding me to who I am now. To my teammates who I look up to, they are my inspiration to work and train harder. And to my family, most especially my mom, who always supports me from the very start.

Any specific routines before and during the meet or before a swim? What are these?

I listen to music to relax myself and think of the things I will do for that meet. I also stretch my body before a swim to help me relax and prepare for the swim.

Please share some words of wisdom for swimmers who wish to be like you.

In life, there are simply no short cuts. Train hard and always be humble about your success.  Most of all “Never give up easily.”
