PSC prepares for PH National Games and Batang Pinoy Nationals amid nCoV threats

Preparations for the Philippine National Games (PNG) and Batang Pinoy (BP) will still push through despite threats of the deadly novel coronavirus.

Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) deputy director Guillermo Iroy said despite the cancellation of various events, they will still continue their buildup for PNG and BP, two crucial tournaments aimed at finding future members of the Philippine national team.

Iroy said they are strictly monitoring the current situation to make sure that the health and safety of the delegates will not be compromised once they decide to lift the suspension.

“Programs of the PSC such as PNG and BP are suspended indefinitely due to existing condition of public health,” Iroy, one of the trusted men of Philippine Sports Commission chairman William “Butch” Ramirez, said.

“But preparations for these events are still ongoing. We’re just monitoring if the condition will improve then the board will decide the final date of these tournaments.”

Organizing these nationwide tournaments is not easy.

Iroy said they are in the process of conducting meetings with various national sports associations, fixing logistical requirements and coordinating with local government units so that everything will be ready once the PSC board of commissioners lifted the suspension.
