Swimming Pinas bags overall championship in PSI Short Course GP


Swimming Pinas bagged the overall championship title in the 2019 Philippine Swimming Inc. (PSI) Short Course Grand Prix National Championships held at the Trace College Aquatic Center in Los Baños, Laguna.

Brent International School-Laguna standout Micaela Jasmine Mojdeh led the team’s campaign by winning four gold and one silver medals in the girls’ 11-13 division.

Mojdeh, a Philippine national junior record holder, also claimed the Highest FINA Points awa d for girls’ 11-13 after earning 618 points in the 400m Individual Medley event (5:03.90).

“Closing 2019 meet with a bang. You all have been wonderful to us. See you next year for a much more enjoyable Grand Prix Series. Congratulations Philippine Swimming. Fast times are really coming. We are proud to be part of it all,” said Swimming Pinas team manager Joan Mojdeh, also the mother of Micaela Jasmine.

Sharing the spotlight were Hugh Antonio Parto, who got the Highest FINA Points trophy in the boys’ 11-13 category, and Jules Mirandilla – the Highest FINA Points awardee in the boys’ 16-18 class.

“Our biggest thanks to our head coach Virgi De Luna who has been working hard and innovating the programs of these kids teaming up with and to The Victoria Sports Club for the venue they provide us for weekly training, and to Behrouz Persian Cuisine,” added Joan.

Te other age-groups medalists were Marcus Johannes De Kam, Jordan Ken Lobos, John Neil Paderes, Triza Tabamo, Lee Grant Cabral, Marc Bryan Dula, Yohan Cabana, Julia Basa, Ivan Radovan, Jacob Arabes and Albert Sermonia.

“Lastly, thanks to the hardworking staff of Philippine Swimming Inc. and Mam Lailani Velasco for giving us the opportunities to be part of PSI and for these kids to shine,” Mojdeh ended.
