Seventeen swim records broken at Batang Pinoy National Championships 2019

There is no stopping to the rise of Philippine Swimming as seventeen Batang Pinoy swimming records had been broken at the recently concluded national championships in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan last August 26-28, 2019.

Of the seventeen broken records, two events (13-15 Girls 400m Free and 800m Free) were broken by three swimmers, and four more events (12 & Under 200m IM and 200m Fly Girls, and 13-15 Girls 100m and 200m Breast) were broken by two swimmers.

A total of sixteen swimmers have broken at least a single event at the Batang Pinoy National Championships this year, six in the 12 & Under Division and 10 in the 13-15 Division.

Of the sixteen swimmers who have broken a record this year, fourteen (14) of them now holds a Batang Pinoy National swim record, while the other two who registered record breaking performance only placed 2nd or 3rd in an event.

Leading the pack with the most number of records broken were Aubrey Tom of Cainta Rizal, Liaa Margarette Amoguis of Davao City and Roz Ciaralene Encarnacion of Laguna Province.

Tom now holds the records of the 50m Free, 100m Free and 200m IM events in the 12 & Under Girls Division; breaking the last two oldest Batang Pinoy national records of Heidi Gem Ong in the 50m and 100m Free, clocked 18 years ago at the 2001 Batang Pinoy National Championships in Bacolod.

Davao City’s Amoguis broke Jasmine Mojdeh’s 400m IM record of 5:37.70 in the 12 & Under Division with her new record time of 5:24.26.

She also broke the 200m IM and 200m Fly records, but placed second to Tom in 200m IM and Renavive Rontesa Subida in the 200m Fly event.

Subida now holds the 12 & Under Girls record of the 200m Fly event with a time of 2:31.45. Both Subida and Amoguis broke Mojdeh’s 2:32.20 record.

Laguna Province’ Encarnacion broke all the breaststroke events in the 13-15 Girls Division.

She now holds the 50m and 200m Breast records, while she also erased the 100m Breast record but placed 2nd to Puerto Princesa’s Mary Sophia Manantan.

Manantan, the current 100m Breast record holder, also broke the 200m Breast record, but placed 2nd to Encarnacion.

Dagupan City’s Gabriel Angelo Jizmundo and Janelle Alisa France Lin, as well as General Santos City’s Thea Diane Canda also delivered two record breaking swims in Puerto Princesa City.

Jizmundo erased Rafael Barreto’s 25.42 record in the 50m Free 13-15 Boys Division with his new record time of 25.27, while at the same time broke the 50m Breast record, but only placed second to Dipolog City’s Albren Jan Dayapdapan who set a gold a new record time of 31.10

Lin, another Dagupan City’s pride, broke the 400m Free and 800m Free records in the 13-15 Girls Division, but only placed third in both events.

General Santos City’s Canda won the 800m Free gold with her new record time of 9:41.14, and Juliana Marien Villanueva took the silver with also a record breaking time of 9:44.12

Canda also broke the 400m Free record, but just placed second to Cotabato Province’ Jie Angela Mikaela Talosig who now holds the record time of 4:42.89.
