The thirteen year-old Philippine swim sensation showed grit and courage against much older swimmers in the 200m Fly finals to finish the race with an eye-popping bronze medal time of 2:19.51

Her new best times resets her 2:21.14 Junior National record clocked early this month at the Grand Prix Nationals.

Ending Team Philippines’ campaign at this year’s ASEAN Schools Games on a high note, the boys quartet of Phillip Joaquin Santos, Jordan Ken Lobos, Mervien Jules Mirandilla and Miguel Barreto took the bronze in the Boys 4x100m Medley Relay event with a time of 3:59.01

Meanwhile John Neil Paderes and Steven Francis Hos placed 7th and 8th in the Boys 50m Back finals with times of 28.66 and 28.87; while Samantha Therese Coronel placed 5th with 31.48

Miguel Barreto and Mervien Jules Mirandilla placed 5th and 7th in the 200m Fly finals with times of 2:09.22 and 2:11.21; and Kean Cedric Ting clocked 25.41 in the 50m Free Finals to finish 7th.

Eirron Seth Vibar and Raymund Vero Paloma finished 6th and 7th in the Boys 1500m Freestyle finals with 17:02.64 and 17:09.77 clockings.

Team Philippines’ campaign at the 11th ASEAN Schools Games ended with 1 gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze medals; surpassing the 2 silver and 8 bronze medal haul last year.

The Philippine Swimming team representing the country at the ASEAN Schools Games are the standout swimmers at the Palarong Pambansa national championships.

They were mentored by coaches Virgilio De Luna and Marichi Gandiongco, along with Team Managers Leo Angelo Semarang and Buddy Arcangel.
