PSI releases 7th Junior Worlds’ PH Swim Team Qualifying Guidelines


Philippine Swimming Incorporated (PSI) has released the official qualifying / selection guidelines for the Philippine Swimming Team bound for the 7th FINA World Swimming Championships in Budapest, Hungary on August 20-25, 2019.

The Junior World Swimming Championships is for 14-17 year-old female swimmers (born in 2002-2005) and 15-16 year old male swimmers (born in 2001-2004), with December 31, 2019 as age of reckoning.

A total of ten (10) junior swimmers will be named to the team.

To be named to the team are the top 5 male and top 5 female swimmers who have achieved the following criteria :

o QT-A: 710 and Above FINA points in at least one event.
o QT-B: 700-709 average FINA points in two events
o QT-C: 680-699 average FINA points in three events

In an event where there are two or more swimmers tied for the slot, the swimmer who has the highest FINA points will be selected.

All ten slots need not be filled if less than 10 swimmers have achieved the minimum required FINA Points.

Qualifying period is January 1, 2019 – June 30, 2019; while deadline of Nomination to the Philippine Team Selection is July 3, 2019 (Wednesday), 5:00 PM.

Valid times recognized for team selection should be clocked at any of the Philippine Swimming Inc. sanctioned meets or FINA Sanctioned meets, within the specified Qualifying Period.
