Philippine Swimming Incorporated (PSI) has released the official qualifying and team selection guidelines for the 18th FINA World Swimming Championships in Gwanju, South Korea this July 21-28, 2019.
Swimmers eligible for Philippine Swimming Team Selection are swimmers who have achieved this year’s World Championships’ QTA or QTB (set by FINA) at any of the Qualifying Meets posted on FINA website.
The qualifying period started last March 1, 2019 and will end this June 23, 2019.
Deadline for Team Selection NOMINATION is on June 26, 2019 (Wednesday), 5:00 PM.
Only PSI registered coaches or team captains of good standing can nominate swimmers.
Any nomination received after 5:00pm on June 26, 2019 will no longer be accepted.
In case there will be less than four swimmers who have achieved the QTA or QTB of this year’s World Championships, or in case swimmers who have achieved the QTA/QTB decide not to go to the world championships, additional swimmer(2) will get selected to the team, to fill the 4 slots allowed by FINA.
Selection of non-QTA/QTB swimmers to the team will be based on FINA Points. Thus, if the swimmer has not achieved the QTA or QTB, but with high FINA Points, the coach/team manager may nominate the swimmer for possible available slot(s) to the team.
