Philippine Swimming’s 13 & Under junior national team members Lora Micah Amoguis and Ivo Nikolai Enot raked in three gold medals for the country to lead Philippine team’s 3 gold, 8 silver and 5 bronze medal campaign at the opening day of the 2019 Arafura Games in Darwin, Australia, Saturday afternoon.
Lora Amoguis reigned supreme in all her individual events, winning the 13-14 Girls gold medals of the 100m Back and 200m IM events with times of 1:10.53 and 2:27.40 respectively.
Enot took the gold in the 13-14 Boys 100m Back event, clocking a winning time of 1:05.52; while at the same time finished with a silver medal in the 50m Free (27.43), 50m Fly (29.77) and 200m IM (2:27.40) events.
Delivering a silver medal finish were Matthieu Adrien Tao, John Paul Elises, Elson Jake Rodriguez, Joshua Raphael Del Rio, and the Women’s 4x50m Freestyle Relay Quartet of Zoe Marie Hilario, Chloe Apin, Lora Amoguis and Maiki Samantha Gonzaga.
Tao placed second to Enot in the 100m Back event with a time of 1:06.83; while Elises took the silver in the 50m Fly 15-16 Boys with a time of 27.69.
Rodriguez on the other hand clocked 1:05.43 in the 100m Back 17 & Over event to win the silver; and Del Rio placed second in the 400m Free with time of 4:22.53.
The 4x50m Free relay quartet of Hilario, Apin, Amoguis and Gonzaga took the silver in 1:56.69 minutes.
Contributing a bronze medal each were Jose Antonio Mendoza (200m IM 17 & Over / 2:32.32), Philip Adrian Sahagun (100m Back 15-16 Boys / 1:06.47), Zoe Marie Hilario (50m Free 15-16 Girls / 28.83), Chloe Apin (100m Back 15-16 Girls / 1:13.29) and Maiki Samantha Gonzaga (50m Fly 13-14 Girls / 32.35).
The Arafura Games 2019 swimming events will run until April 30.
