Tankers add silver and bronze on day three of 9th ASEAN Schools Games

Philippine Swimming’s high school tankers added a silver and a bronze to their medal haul on day three of the 9th ASEAN Schools Games in Singapore Sports School, Singapore, Monday afternoon.

Top youth swimmer, Maurice Sacho Ilustre, clocked 25.61 to finish second in the Boys 50m Butterfly event, with Singapore’s Mikkel Jun Jie Lee taking the gold (25.45) and Indonesia’s Zelmi Aryalingga Azel for bronze (00:25.82)

Ilustre’s new 50m Fly best time of 25.61 is the new Junior Philippine National Record in the Boys 16-18 Age Group, erasing Rafael Barreto’s record of 25.86

Taking the bronze medal of the Girls 4x100m Freestyle event were the quartet of Zoe Marie Hilario, Althea Michel Baluyut, Nicole Meah Pamintuan and Bhay Maitland Newberry with a time of 4:01.48, behind team Indonesia who took the gold (3:55.96) and team Singapore for silver (3:56.44)

Meanwhile, 14-year-old Camille Lauren Buico continued her record breaking form, this time trimming down her 50m Butterfly Girls 14-15 Junior Philippine National Record twice.

In the morning prelims, Buico reset her 29.11 record to 29.07; and then reset it again in the afternoon finals to 28.90; placing 4th in a pool of 16-18 year old swimmers.

After day three of action, Team Philippines has so far won 6 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals; placing 2nd in the medal tally, behind Indonesia who has been dominating the games with 16 gold, 9 silver and 7 bronze medals.

Team Singapore current takes the 3rd spot in the medal tally with 4-8-7, followed by Malaysia with 2-2-5, then Thailand with 1-4-7 and Vietnam with 1-3-0
