Six youth tankers have been officially named to the Philippine Swimming Team bound to compete at the 6th FINA World Junior Swimming Championships in Indianapolis, USA on August 23-28, 2017
Making their second appearance in the junior world stage are Maurice Sacho Ilustre and Regina Maria Paz Castrillo.
They will be joined by PH Junior record holders Jexter Janzen Chua, Rafael Barreto, Regina Maria Paz Castrillo and Raissa Regatta Gavino.
A tougher qualifying guidelines have been set this year in order for a swimmer to qualify to the Junior Worlds PH Team.
QTA was 690 FINA Points in a single event, QTB was 670 – 689 FINA Points Average in two events, while QTC was 660-669 FINA Points Average in three events.
A total of eight (8) junior swimmers have qualified for the PH Team, three male and five female swimmers, have actually qualified to the team; but Nicole Justine Marie Oliva will be sent to the 29th Southeast Asian Games in Malaysia, while Xiandi Chua, opted out of the meet due to academic reasons.
The Junior World Swimming Championships is for male swimmers aged 15-18 years old and female swimmers 14-17 years old, with age as of December 31, 2017 as age of reckoning.
