Focused on her build-up for the upcoming Budapest World Championships next month and for the SEA Games this August, Olympian Jasmine Alkhaldi bagged two golds, a silver and a bronze at the Cool Swim Meeting in Merano, Italy over the weekend.
Alkhaldi topped the 50m Fly and 400m Free events in the three day meet, clocking a gold medal time of 28.37 in the 50m Fly and 4:29.04 in the 400m Free event.
She finished second in the 100m Fly event with 1:02.84 clocking, and brought home the bronze in 50m Free after registering 26.59 seconds.
Two time Olympian Alkhaldi, who is turning 24 years old tomorrow, is the country’s brightest hope in ending the gold medal drought in SEA Games.
The last time Philippines won a gold medal at the prestigious biennial regional championships was in year 2011 in Vientaine, Laos.
Alkhaldi will be staying in Italy until third week of July where she will be training with Bolzano Nuoto Swimming Club in preparation for the World Championships.
