P-O-C says no recognition is given to last week’s Philippine Swimming Incorporated’s (PSI) election; stresses it works on guiding the NSA to follow its Constitution and by Laws for the conduct of a legitimate procedure.

Secretary General Steve Hontiveros told Sports Radio that POC had not authorized the recent PSI election which failed to comply with standard requirements specifically on voters as prescribed by its Constitution and by Laws.

Hontiveros explained that a group from PSI informed the POC about an election which still pushed thru inspite of the absence of a representive from the country’s Olympic body.

The POC , on its previous Board Meeting, assigned Atty Charlie Ho and Hontiveros to assist PSI to conduct an election, which has been long over due even after President Mark Joseph handed Secretary General Lani Velasco the operation of the NSA for more than a year now.

Ho and Hontiveros have been studying thoroughly PSI’s Constitution and By Laws and will visit different regions to check on legitimate voters.

Hontiveros said alegitimate conduct of election shall take place only after a procedure is finalized and approved by the POC Board which may take at least two months.

In the meantime, Sec. Gen Velasco shall continue to function as care taker of the PSI especially in its preparations for the SEA Games.
