Two time Olympian Jasmine Alkhaldi won a silver medal in the 200m Freestyle event at the HPS GP “Victoria” swim meet in Rijeka, Croatia yesterday evening.
Seeded 4th going to the evening finals of the 200m Free event with a prelims time of 2:04.59, Alkhaldi propelled her way to a silver medal finish in the finals with a time of 2:03.30.
Croatia’s Aja Klinar took the gold with a time of 2:00.62, while fellow Croatian Gaja Natlacen settled for a bronze with her 2:03.35 clocking.
Alkhaldi also finished 4th in the 50m and 100m Freestyle finals with times of 26.98 and 57.32; 5th in 50m Butterfly finals with 28.77 and 9th in the 100m Butterfly finals with 1:03.38.
The HPS GP “Victoria” swim meet in Croatia is a Budapest World Championships qualifying meet, and at the same time a 2017 SEA Games qualifying meet.
Sadly, none of Alkhaldi’s times in this meet have breached this year’s World Championships QTB, and this year’s SEA Games QTA times.
Alkhaldi though has already qualified at this year’s World Championships via her 100m Free and 200m Free times at the Arena Pro Swim Series in Mesa, USA last year which have hit the World Champs’ QTBs.
