Season 2016 : Philippine Swimming Season Ending Wrap-Up

A total of eighteen Filipino swimmers, nine men and 9 women, occupy the TOP POSITIONS of our Season 2016 overall Philippine Swimming Rankings.

The top swimmers are Jessie Khing Lacuna, Axel Toni Steven Ngui, Jerard Dominic Jacinto, Jarod Hatch, James Christian Deiparine, Matthew Aaron Thomas, Alberto Batungbacal, Tristan Tuazon Taylor, Joseph Portillo, Hannah Dato, Nicole Justine Marie Oliva, Jasmine Alkhaldi, Chloe Kennedy Isleta, Elizabeth Jordana, Miranda Cristina Renner, Maria Aresa Lipat, Xiandi Chua and Imelda Corazon Wistey.

Youngest Top Ranked swimmers are fifteen year-old Jacinto, Renner and Chua, while eldest is 24 year-old Wistey.

Jessie Khing Lacuna secured the most number of Top-Ranked times in Season 2016, with 4 events.

He ranks first in the 200m Free, 400m Free, 200m IM and 400m IM events; second in the 50m Fly, and third in the 100m Fly and 200m Fly events.

Hannah Dato, Nicole Oliva and Jasmine Alkhaldi have three Top-Ranked times each.

Dato ranks first in the 50m Fly, 100m Fly and 200m Fly (2:17.48); second in 200m IM and 400m IM events, then third in 100m Free and 200m Free.

Oliva is the top swimmer in the 400m Free, 800m Free and 200m Back events; second in 200m Free, and third in 50m Back and 100m Back events.

Alkhaldi on the other hand ranks first in 50m, 100m and 200m Free events.

Clinching two Top-Ranked times are Axel Ngui (50m & 100m Free), Jerard Jacinto (50m & 200m Back), Jarod Hatch (100m and 200m Fly), James Deiparine (50m & 100m Breast), and Chloe Isleta (200m and 400m IM).

A total of 5 PH Junior National Records have been set in Season 2016, four of which are official, while the remaining one record is not official since it was clocked by a Fil-Foreign swimmer who is not yet a member of Philippine Swimming Incorporated.

The official new Senior Philippine National records are :

– Men’s 50m Breaststroke : James Deiparine (28.22) at Scottish National Swimming Championships, Scotland
– Men’s 100m Breaststroke : James Deiparine (1:02.00) at Scottish National Swimming Championships, Scotland
– Women’s 100m Freestyle : Jasmine Alkhaldi (55.94) at Arena Pro Swim Series, Mesa, USA
– Women’s 100m Breaststroke : Imelda Corazon Wistey (1:11.36) at Arena Pro Swim Series, Indianapolis, USA

The Unofficial New Senior Philippine National records are :

– Women’s 400m Free : Nicole Oliva ( 4:19.28 )

Season 2016 Philippine Swimming Wrap-Up :

A total of 296 swimmers have made an appearance at the Season 2016 overall Philippine Swimming Rankings, wherein 154 are male swimmers and 142 are female swimmers.

Eldest swimmer in the 2016 overall rankings is 27-year-old Ryan Paolo Arabejo, and the youngest is 11-year-old Roz Ciaralene Encarnacion.

Twenty-two male swimmers and eighteen female swimmers have registered at least a single clocking that is among the Top 3 in the overall national rankings.

In the 16-18 Age-Group Rankings, a total of 136 swimmers have made an appearance in the rankings, wherein 71 are boys and 65 are girls.

Twenty male swimmers and seventeen female swimmers have registered at least a single clocking that is among the Top 3 in the 16-18 Age-Group Rankings.

In the 14-16 Age-Group Rankings, a total of 130 swimmers have made an appearance in the rankings, wherein 63 are boys and 67 are girls.

Fifteen male and fifteen female swimmers have registered at least a single clocking that is among the Top 3 in the 14-15 Age-Group Rankings.

In the 13 & Under Age-Group Rankings, a total of 152 swimmers have made an appearance in the rankings, wherein 87 are boys and 65 are girls.

Thirteen male and fifteen female swimmers have registered at least a single clocking that is among the Top 3 in the 13 & Under Age-Group Rankings.

Youngest swimmers that have made an appearance in the Age-Group Rankings are ten-year-old swimmers Athena Shannessa Chang and Micaela Jasmine Mojdeh.

    Just wondering why Bhay Maitland Newberry is not on the list
    with 2 gold and 3 silver at the Batang Pinoy meet
    1gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze in the SEA age group in Thailand
    Only Filipina to get a gold medal this year in international competitiion
    13 year old record holder in the 50back, 100 back and 200 back
    Resident of the Philippines for the last 5 years and goes to Montessori Integrated school, Antipolo

      because this article talks about the Top 3 fastest times only in the 2016 PH Overall Swim Rankings.
